My web site got hacked through the FTP daemon awhile ago, so I turned it off. That's why there hasn't been any updates, blogger.com uses ftp to publish the blog entries here. So now I've got a new and more secure ftp daemon. The only problem left is that blogger.com will only work when I connect to wireless.blogger.com with my desktop machine. If I try connecting to it with my palm pilot, it doesn't work. If I try connecting with my desktop to the normal site, it doesn't work. Stupid blogger
So. What's new? Well a lot of course. I'll probably never write it all up so let's just pretend the last couple of months never happened.
Since I've moved back to The City I've been taking BART for my commute every day. This means plenty of time to read, which is a good thing. Currently I'm re-reading The Crying of Lot 49, a fantastic book about paranoia and despair by Thomas Pynchon.
Let's see. What else. Oh, I'm currently in the process of trying to hire a Russian programmer to do Java programming for me. Since my wrists went bad I can't spend as much time working on fun cool coding projects like I used to. So I figure I can take advantage of the high value of the US$ in Russia and hire a commie code monkey (I joke, I joke) to work part time on whatever I think of. I'm offering $100/month, which might be a good chunk of change especially to someone not in the metropolis cities like Moscow and St Petersburg. Only one resume so far in response to my post at www.javable.com, but we'll see how it goes.
