Las night I saw, by far, the best live music show (not counting the multi-band Sleazefest West 3 day show) that I've seen since moving to San Francisco, and it's way up there in my all time list. These motherfuckers are superstars: Kinky.
They're a five piece from Monterrey, Mexico playing latino elctro-rock alternative that moved all over the musical map and just tore the Justice League apart. God damn, they rocked! The energy in the room was almost frenetic.
I'd downloaded some of their MP3's a few months ago (once again, a band I would have not gone to see live if not for MP3 sharing) and they've been in heavy rotation on my iPod ever since. Despite the fact that I liked the MP3s I was not prepared at all for how amazing their live show would be. I went with my friend Elida who once did a spanish-language interview with them for her college radio station in Santa Barbara (She's going to get me a copy, I'll rip it to MP3 and post it sometime). All their songs are in spanish, but they could be singing in some ancient aztec language for all I care, 'cause they're having it!
Last night I learned they were nominated for a 2002 Grammy. And according to their hella cool official website they're also up for some MTV video awards.
Do not miss this band if they come anywhere near you! Get right up front and be ready to move.
Some sample MP3's (again, good but they don't compare to the live show):
Ejercicio #16 (4 MB)
Soun tha mi amor (3 MB)
Noche de Toxinas (4 MB)
Note also, if I can get a copy from Elida I might just post the infamous track that samples the spanish version of The Ugly Duckling which they no longer play live because they don't have the necessary permission from Walt Disney.

hey, any chance of putting 'mas' up for sharing? i can't seem to find this particular mp3...thx!!!
