Right before leaving the office today I got a call from that courier company in New York. They needed someone to fly to Tel Aviv tomorrow morning. The flight would be free, they pay one night hotel and $100 upon my return. I told them I'd call them back.
I called them back in about two minutes. I've come down with a sore throat for the last few days and may be getting sicker, but I decided I can't pass up the opportunity to be in Jerusalem (only 30 minutes from Tel Aviv) on Christmas 2000. I'm not even faintly christian anymore (recovered catholic) but, christ, that would be cool.
Plus I can try to get into Palestine, maybe throw a rock at a tank.
They told me they would call me in the morning with the details, so I'm packing now. Managed to find my passport (most of my stuff is still in U-Haul boxes in the garage), but still need to find some other stuff.
If I don't make it back alive (who knows, Meggido a.k.a. Armageddon is just up the road from Tel Aviv) I want everyone to know that it was worth it. We all gotta go sometime.
